A community garden is a communal piece of land on which many people plant vegetables or flowers in divided plots. It’s a way to beautify a community, improve your diet, get some exercise, connect to the environment and save money on grocery bills, all at the same time. If you’re interested in doing any of the above, then you should be a part of the Cottage City Community Garden.
Join the Cottage City Community Garden and the Port Towns Youth Council for our annual garden opener on Saturday, April 8th, between 9am-12pm.
All are welcome to volunteer and help us continue to improve the Cottage City Community Garden. Middle School and High School students can receive service-learning credit for their participation.
During the day you can
- Register for a garden bed (download 2017 Garden Application)
- Pick-up free packets of seeds
- Volunteer and work on new garden projects
- Meet your neighbors
- Have fun outdoors.
Light breakfast and lunch will be served for all volunteers. Families are welcome! We look forward to seeing you there! Feel free to share this information with your friends, family, and neighbors.
