The Cottage City Community Garden opened in March 2010 as the first community garden in the Port Towns of Prince George’s County. The garden is supported through partnerships with the Anacostia Watershed Society, Community Forklift, ECO City Farms, Port Towns Health Partnership and the Port Towns Youth Council and Cottage City Residents.
We see the importance of a ‘community asset’ like the garden in providing local organic food to our community and providing critical community networking and the type of neighbor-to-neighbor interaction and team spirit that helps to build strong communities.
As in any garden, there are many challenges – but in the midst of these challenges amazing signs of resiliency and neighborhood sustainability are taking root! The Cottage City Community Garden is an important part of making our community stronger and more resilient!
The garden has 30 beds available for community residents to rent for $10/season. Individuals can also volunteer in the garden for $5/season and have access to vegetables grown in the communal areas.
The Cottage City Community Garden is located at
4222 Cottage Terrace
Brentwood, MD 20722
Everyday, Sunrise – Sunset
I would like to join the cottage city garden for the next growing season. I would like information on how to join.

Hello Jacqueline,
Sorry for the delay in responding and thanks for your interest in the Cottage City Community Garden. Our beds are all take up for the year. We do allow people to join the garden and pick from the communal rows in exchange for $5 and 10 hours of volunteer work. If you’re interested, I’ll send you an application. Send me your email address.
Thanks,
Diana Guelespe, Co-Leader
