Thanks to a grant written by the Town of Bladensburg, Big Belly Solar Trash and Recycling receptacles are now throughout our community. You can see these stations in Bladensburg, Cottage City, Colmar Manor, Edmonston and Mt. Rainier. These nifty receptacles use solar to compact trash and recycling to get more items per can and send a message via wifi when they need to be emptied.
And congratulations to Colmar Manor! They are working with the Port Towns Community Health Partnership to submit a grant to install a sidewalk along the west side of 40th Avenue between Bladensburg Road and Newark Road and an electronic information sign.
Remember the Saturday Port Towns Farmers Mercado at the Three Brothers’ parking lot at 4521 Kenilworth Avenue, Bladensburg on Saturday between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
