Greetings Gardeners!
What a month was August! As we head into the Labor Day weekend, I am asking that we all keep the families and individuals displaced as a result of Hurricane Harvey in our thoughts. September is also the time for the Corn Moon. September is a perfect time to finish planting seeds for the fall harvest. Crops that are best are carrots, spinach and other lettuces. Also, the Prince George’s County Fair is this September 7 – 10 at the Showplace Arena. This is a great way to learn more about Prince George’s County’s agricultural roots. Learn more here –http://www.countyfair.org/. For now, here are our garden updates.
Composting Workshop – Saturday, September 9th at 10:00am
Barbara Hopkins of the Prince George’s County Master Gardener program will be working with us to conduct a hands-on and interactive workshop about the benefits of composting and how to properly compost. Please plan to attend, as we will be working preparing our compost bed to yield the most results. Following the workshop, we will meet to discuss upcoming fundraising activities and ideas.
Cottage City Day
Gardeners had a wonderful time at Cottage City Day spreading the word about the garden and encouraging residents to visit us. You can view pictures of Cottage City Day and all garden workshops on our Flickr Account – https://www.flickr.com/photos/55641344@N04/
