Throughout the 2023- 2024 seasons we have been able to make many improvements to the garden.
How exciting!!
The new fence was replaced in February 2024. This helps us keep the wildlife out and our beautiful plants safe and flourishing.
We installed a new 500 gallon cistern and rainwater system. Our local garden helpers, Demetrius and John built the rainwater system to shade the cistern and capture rainwater.
This finishes the sustainability projects of capturing rainwater from all three cisterns.
Our beloved bees got a new home and hives in the back corner of the garden. Much appreciation to our beekeepers, Barbara, Laura and Natasha.
We anticipate a healthy amount of honey this year.
The hoop house got a new facelift. This greenhouse allows us to start plants and maintain them in a warm and safe place until they are planted in the beds.
Much appreciation to Brian for this project and starting all the seedlings for the 32 community gardeners and for the annual plant sale fundraiser.
The raised beds that we use to garden are continually needing repaired and replaced. This season we are experimenting with a new low-maintenance bed. If it works we will be replacing more beds with this model in the fall.
Much appreciation to the town of Cottage City for their grant made possible through the American Rescue funds.
