This Sunday, join the Cottage City Community Garden’s Chef Mark Haskell as he speaks at Reconnecting Our Roots with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Buy Fresh Buy Local Chesapeake (BFBLC) Chapter. This event will kickoff the BFBLC program by promoting public awareness of the environment, the economic benefits of local food, and the impacts of agriculture on the health of the Chesapeake Bay. “Reconnecting Our Roots” will serve as a educational platform based around service, community, and expanding access to local food whether it be physically or geographically.
Join us for a day at CBF’s Clagett Farm in Upper Marlboro, Maryland for educational presentations, a tour of the farm, a service project, and a showcase of foods produced on the sustainable farm. Attendees will assist in the filling and planting of elevated garden beds designed for easier accessibility to individuals with a limited range of motion.
Following lunch, 1 p.m. educational panel & conversation followed with 2:30 farm tours.
Please R.S.V.P. This event will be rain or shine so please dress accordingly. A local, farm fresh lunch will be provided.
